Public Relations Internships at RB Oppenheim Associates

RB Oppenheim Associates is an award-winning, full-service, integrated marketing communications firm with a 22-year history steeped in unparalleled public relations, advertising and marketing services. Current and past clients include corporations and organizations in the fields of public health, medical research, metropolitan development, environmental protection and banking & finance.

At RBOA, we are always looking for fresh talent to take advantage of our internship opportunities. The ideal candidate is an articulate, organized, conscientious university student majoring in public relations or a related field, with strong writing and research skills and a thirst for knowledge.

The public relations internship is an intensive and eye-opening experience for the beginning PR professional. We entrust our interns with sizeable projects, promotions and other projects; assisting with event planning and press conferences; and representing the agency as an extension of the account team. Interns are encouraged to ask questions, attend industry events and make the most of their experiences throughout the semester.

The internship consists of 20 set hours per week, arranged to complement class schedules, and pays a stipend, plus reimbursement for mileage accrued during work-related tasks. More than that, the professional experience and confidence gained through a successful RBOA internship are priceless.

RBOA offers fall, spring and summer opportunities. All applicants should prepare a resume, cover letter and writing samples. To apply, email Lori Jackson at ljackson@rboa.com or call (850) 386-9100.

What past student interns have to say...

“Most people associate internships with stuffing envelopes, fetching coffee, or simply manning the telephone. However, my internship at RB Oppenheim Associates was nothing of the sort, as I was immediately welcomed as part of the team and entrusted with real-world Public Relations tasks. During my first week, I created a first draft of a marketing proposal, something that I had only read about in textbooks beforehand. My responsibilities only continued to grow, and by the end of my internship, I had written various publicity materials, learned more about social media trends and how they pertain to the industry, and worked closely with each staff member. The only thing I would change about the internship is its length—as it ended much too soon. “

"Having the opportunity to be an intern at RB Oppenheim Associates was definitely one of the best experiences of my college career.
Not only did everyone at the agency welcome me as an actual member of the team, but they guided me the whole way. I was not very familiar with some of the PR tasks they had me work on at first, but they never hesitated to offer advice or lend a helping hand. I was constantly working on actual PR material and not just running errands or making coffee. Through this internship I learned new communication techniques, knowledge about the public relations industry, improved my writing skills and most importantly gained confidence in my work. I would definitely advise students to intern at RB Oppenheim Associates. It was a lot of fun and a great learning experience!"

"My experience at RB Oppenheim Associates gave me confidence in my PR skills and the drive to succeed in the public relations industry.  I learned the importance of producing timely and informative news that serves the client's needs.  I also learned the value of utilizing 2.0 media to provide more effective communication between clients and the media.  Most of all, I learned that honest and supportive team members make a confident and effective public relations professional.  I have not only made lasting contacts, but friends that are great sources of knowledge and encouragement.  Become an intern at RBOA, but be careful...you might never want to leave!"

"RB Oppenheim Associates offers exciting projects, challenging duties, and tremendous possibilities. From my first day, I was treated like a member of the team. Whether I was writing hot-button press releases or planning a statewide conference, I was always encouraged to be creative and applauded for my efforts. It is rare to find a business in this fast-paced field which takes the time to motivate and train the future of the industry. My knowledge and opportunities flourished because of my experience with RBOA."
